White Mountains Trip, June 21-22, 1996
Numbers were few (snow days extended school calender, shifting HS exams to the following week), but spirits were high. We hiked up Edmands Path to Lakes of the Clouds AMC Hut, arriving as the clouds settled in. Snow could be seen on the eastern slope of Mt. Washington. In the morning, still in the clouds, some of us went to the top of Mt. Washington, others to the top of Mt. Monroe. We came down Ammonoosuc Ravine, past beautiful waterfalls. A glorious two days.

Mountain Biking, June 1-2, 1996
Back to Cranmore, but this time on wheels! Trails that had seemed easy on skiis last winter, took on a whole new character on bikes. Blue-square intermediate rated trails were now double-black-diamond expert, but skills progressed during the day. Matt "Puddle-Meister" K. showed us how to splash our way down the mountain.

Parent/Son Fishing at Nonesuch Pond, May 11, 1996
Seven boys and their fathers (including fathers and sons from Pack 152) went fishing on Saturday on Nonesuch Pond. Lots of fish were caught! Large mouth bass, crappies, and various sunfish. Mike L. and George L. both caught two species, qualifying them to complete Fishing Merit Badge. Everyone had a good time. Participants: _____, Mike L., Mr. Brody, Sam L., Mr. Lee, George L., Rob L., Ben B., Jesse L., Mr. Karasch, Watson S., Ryan M., David M., and Mr. Sallay.

Spring Camporee, April 26-28, 1996
Big turnout (13 boys and 2 Webelos scouts) and beautiful weather (if you ignore the rain Friday night) combined for a great camporee. Austin S. and Peter W. were tapped out for Order of the Arrow. Under our new patrol name, "Trailblazers", we scored well in the orienteering, lashing, and flint/steel fire competitions. Absolutely fabulous venison stew was prepared in the Troop's new cast iron dutch oven. Lots of time for the boys to just hang out. Participants: Matt K., George L., Alex W., John W., Mike L., Mike B., Bill F., George B., George L., Justin W., Austin S., Peter W., Jack S., and Mr. Sallay.

Operation Polar Bear, January 13-14, 1996
Although you could not have asked for a more perfect weekend for winter camping (fresh snow fell Friday evening, but skies cleared to perfect sunny weather by Saturday morning), the organizers of Operation Polar Bear cancelled, out of fear that some scouts attending would not be prepared for such real winter conditions. The cancellation was unfortunate, as Troop 157 was well prepared.

Nobscot Cabin Trip, December 9-10, 1995
With snow falling, backpacked in to Troop cabin at Nobscot Reservation. Built new stairs designed by Gary W., Alex's father. Played Capture the Flag in the snow, and had a wild snowball fight. Cooked the traditional cornish hens on the cabin stove. Brooks and Mr. Diehl found a tree fallen on their car on our return to the parking lot! Participants: Mr. Sallay, Sam L., Watson S., Mr, Lettieri, Mike L., Mark L., Brooks D., George L., Mr. Lee, and Mr. Diehl.
