We will be spending two (and possibly three) more meetings working on the classroom aspects of this merit badge. The meetings will take place on February 8 , February 29, and possibly March 7.

You need to read the enclosed five chapters (4, 6, 8, 10, and 11) from the Scout Field Book. These are really quite good, and well worth reviewing, whether or not you needed to do so for this merit badge.

We went over some of the material in Chapters 6, 10, and 11 at our first meeting, on January 11, and you may have covered some of the material from Chapter 4 with Mr. Heath on January 18. But you still need to read the chapters, as there will be a quiz on all of the material at the conclusion of our series of meetings.

At our next regular meeting, on February 8, we will be working on Chapter 4 (Gear) and Chapter 6 (Camping Know How). At the next meeting after that, February 29, we will work on Chapter 8 (Trail Menus and Cooking), and review the other chapters.

If we have time, we will have the quiz on February 29. If not, it will be given on March 7. It will be necessary to pass the quiz to receive the merit badge, but the quiz will be open book, and you may take it home to complete it if you desire.
