Weston Boy Scout Troop 157

Venture Crew Appalachian Trail Trek
Franconia Notch to Hanover, NH
July 13 – July 20, 2002

Our summer backpacking trip will be along the Appalachian Trail from Franconia Notch to Hanover (Dartmouth College). Everyone is invited to participate. the total distance to be hiked is about 70 miles, but the second half of the hike is over more level terrain, allowing us to cover more miles each day. If you are interested in trying out this sort of trip, you might want to try hiking just halfway. We expect to be able to arrange drop-off and pickup at a road crossing at about the halfway mark. We will leave very early on Saturday morning, July 13, e.g., 6:00 am, so that we can get in a good half-day of hiking on Saturday.  We will finish up on Saturday, July 20, also with probably a half day’s hike.  The packing list for summer treks is on the website (click on the regular packing list, and choose the link to the summer trek list at the top of the page).  Items on that list are exactly what you should bring--no more, no less.
